Financial assistance paired with guidance and support from YW staff helped Lateasha—YW’s 2021 Sweet Success honoree—create a clear path forward from a situation that felt hopeless.
YWCA St. Paul has been working for racial and gender equity for more than 110 years.
Our programs advance racial equity by helping low-income individuals and families—especially women and youth of color—overcome barriers to access and achieve success in areas characterized by significant racial disparities.
Beverly Jones Heydinger has had an illustrious career of over thirty years in the legal profession, having retired from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) as Chair in 2017. Prior to leading the PUC, Heydinger served in various leadership capacities at the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office for twenty years, and as an Administrative Law Judge in the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings for twelve years. She also served as an adjunct clinical professor at Mitchell Hamline College of Law and served on many state bar and Supreme Court committees. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College and her juris doctorate from the University of Michigan. A long-time Saint Paul resident, Bev is the proud mother of two adult children, and an active and dedicated community volunteer for numerous non-profits, including District Energy Saint Paul, Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance, the Citizens Utility Board, Unity Church-Unitarian, and of course, the YWCA Saint Paul.
Beverly is a tireless advocate for the YWCA’s mission, and her community service reflects her commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women. She consistently works to build greater equity in our community and always lifts up the interests of those on the margins or who are overlooked by others. As Board Chair at YWCA St. Paul, Bev provided wise counsel, unfailing support, and exceptionally strong leadership. She leans in to help out no matter how great or small the challenge, and brings energy, enthusiasm, and a “get it done” attitude to every effort. Beverly helps to strengthen and empower YWCA St. Paul and our broader community in so many ways. We at YWCA St. Paul are honored to celebrate Beverly Jones Heydinger as the 2023 Change Maker Award recipient!
