Work With Kids

After-School and Summer Programs
Tutor Assistant
Assist youth grades K-8 in enhancing their academic skills (math and literacy focus). Use proven techniques and curriculum to improve reading and math abilities, and decrease the number of young people who are falling behind in their academic skills. Hours are M-H 2:00-5:00 pm.

Girls LEAD
Empower girls! The Girls LEAD Program gives girls, ages 7-14, a safe and supportive place to explore self-esteem, careers, science and other topics. M-F 2:00-6:00 pm. All day summer.

Boys CLIMB
Lead boys! The Boys CLIMB (Confidence, Life Skills, Involvement, Motivation, Behavior) is a leadership program designed to help boys acquire the skills, attitude and support they need to succeed today and into adulthood. M-F 2:00-6:00 pm All day summer.

Youth Achievers Program
In YAP, all kids succeed. The Youth Achievers Program (YAP) involves at-risk youth ages 7-14. Volunteers tutor, lead group activities and offer support and encouragement for behaviorally challenged youth. M-F 2:00-6:00 pm. All day summer.

Project Specialist
Put your unique talents and interest to good use! Design and implement a project for youth in one of our after-school programs. Topics include: studio arts, performance arts, sports and recreation, conflict management or applying academics to the real world. Do you have a special talent to share? Let us know! Evening Opportunities
Child Enrichment Center
Play with kids! Help us provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment for children in our Transitional Housing Program. Play, read, make art and rock babies. Your help gives moms in the program an opportunity to attend workshops and move toward self-sufficiency. Groups welcome! Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00 pm, Thursdays, 6:00-8:00 pm.
Full Child Care Aide Position Description.

Kids Care
Help care for Health and Fitness Center members' kids while they work out and earn FREE Health and Fitness Center membership. Volunteers who work 4 shifts per month earn free membership. Morning, day and evening shifts available.

Work With Young Adults

IMPACT
Focus on the next step! IMPACT works with 15-22 year olds to effectively integrate strategies for improving employability by focusing on other youth issues (i.e., pro-social skills, academic remediation) to reinforce the importance of education as a means of keeping higher education and career options open. M-F 2:00-6:00 pm.

Help Homeless Moms

Life Skills Instructor
Share your expertise and know-how with women in the Transitional Housing Program. Past volunteer-lead workshops include: journaling, child development, health and nutrition, resume writing, relaxation techniques and wardrobe planning. Do you have a special skill or knowledge to share? Workshops are held on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings.
Full Life Skills Instructor Position Description.

Job Coach
Help empower participants in our Transitional Housing Program to advance in their current career and gain self esteem in the work place and/or educational setting. During one-on-one meetings assist participants with planning for their future in career and educational advancement and provide insight about organizational culture. One time or long term commitments available on Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:00 pm.

Administrative Opportunities

Office Assistant
Assist management staff with projects and events in the Health & Fitness Center's major programming areas: Aerobics, Aquatics, Land-based and Specialty classes and Personal Training. Morning and day shifts available.

Group Projects

Drives
Make a difference! Sponsor a drive for Youth Development or Transitional Housing Program families. Pick a drive that works for you: school supplies, household goods, school uniforms, toys, birthday bags, infant care supplies or healthy snacks. Contact the HR Generalist for details.

Service Projects
Throw a party for kids, help with spring cleaning or paint programming space. There are a variety of ways your group can get involved. Contact the HR Generalist for details.

Special Projects

If you are interested in helping out with a special event or short-term project as an individual or group, contact our HR Generalist. Past special projects have included painting a child-care center, assembling journals for youth programs, sponsoring a field trip or leading arts and crafts activities for children in our Transitional Housing Program.
