Aquatics Update
The aquatics staff has been working hard to make sure you have even more great options at the YWCA. We’re excited to announce:

Preschool Swimming

We are pleased to introduce the new preschool program for children ages three to five years old. The classes feature a low teacher to student ratio of 1:4 — parents need not be in the water during lessons!  Each class focuses on helping children to master a few skills before moving onto the next level. This approach helps make swimming easier and more enjoyable for preschool aged swimmers. Jelly Fish, the first level for the beginner swimmer, works to acclimate children to the water by teaching them how to blow bubbles, put their face in the water, float on their back and kick. In Blow Fish, our intermediate class, kids will continue to build their skills and work on front floating, gliding and swimming more independently. During Clown Fish, our advanced class, children will enhance their confidence by swimming independently on their front and back. They will also learn how to do a flip breath.

Prenatal Water Fitness
Designed for women that are at least 12 weeks pregnant, this class will help prepare your body for the remainder of your pregnancy, labor and childbirth by strengthening and stretching muscles and increasing cardiovascular endurance.

Youth Swimming
We continue to offer levels one through five for youth featuring a teacher to student ratio of 1:5. Staff will be participating in an extensive training program to learn more skills, drills, and tools to more effectively teach your children how to swim. Our goal is to make swimming fun but challenging and hope many of our young swimmers will to strive to improve their swimming and possibly join our Piranhas’ Swim Team.
