About the Centennial Campaign | How to Give
funding a legacy of hope and achievement
As community issues like access to affordable housing, low academic performance and poverty continue to grow, so do the need for services. The Centennial Campaign will allow us to enhance our response to urgent community needs and ensure our second century of service is characterized by the same level of excellence and achievement as our first.
Through the Centennial Campaign, we will raise $5 million—$2.5 million to enhance our capacity today and $2.5 million in endowed funds to help ensure the continuation of our services in the future.
A community-based, volunteer-driven initiative, the Centennial Campaign will fund a legacy of hope and achievement by:
- Expanding the vital services we provide.
- Building our endowment to ensure services are available to future generations.
- Enabling us to respond swiftly to emerging community needs.
As a result, close to $200,000 in additional revenue will be available to support urgent community needs each year!
an investment in community
Helping individuals to become self-sufficient. Giving young people alternatives to violence. Equipping parents to raise healthy children. Reconnecting adolescents to their schools and community. Building futures that reject the prophecy of poverty, dependence and despair. More than an investment in the women, children and families of St. Paul, a gift to the Centennial Campaign is a smart investment in a better community.- It’s estimated that each young person who drops out of school will cost the public $300,000 in remediation, corrections and public assistance. Helping the adolescents and young adults in our IMPACT program to build success stories in the classroom, workplace and community costs just $1,293 per youth per year.
- To afford the average two-bedroom apartment, a single parent needs to earn more than $17 an hour, but nearly half the jobs in the Twin Cities start at less than $11 per hour. The Apprentice Opportunities Pilot Project helps women, people of color and low-income individuals support their families through living wage jobs in the construction trades.
- Housing juvenile offenders costs upwards of $60,000 per person, per year. Our Youth Development programs help youth find a path to success for less than $2,400 per child per year.
- Lack of affordable housing strains families and puts both adults and youth at risk. Graduates of our Transitional Housing Program have access to safe, affordable housing at a cost of no more than 30% of their household income.
- The Centennial Campaign is vital to our ability to provide programs and services to those in St. Paul who are most in need. Your support of this campaign will enable us to enhance our current programs and build an endowment that will continue meeting community needs for years to come. Every contribution impacts the lives of our program participants—with each show of support their struggles subside.
- We invite you to join us in this essential community initiative. From the turn of the century to the start of a new millennium, together we can transform lives
